Poetic Typography

Context: Reinvention of the Pillow Book by Sei Shonagon adapted into posters communicating her poems to a newer generation. Written in the Edo period (1600-1868), Japan, this book records daily observations and appreciates the small delights of life. Nature is a common theme in these poems as it’s beauty and diversity provokes strong emotions.

Design: The goal of these posters is to get the reader to stop and appreciate their surrounding nature and daily habits. Using type as image, I solved this brief with two different approaches, this one through a guerilla style poster campaign that illustrates some extracts from the book.
